When in the lobby , or having a drink in the ‘River Lounge’, this is impossible to realize being in such a cyclopean building. The lounge was designed to make guests feel like staying in a small family hotel. A luxurious one, as a matter of fact. There is no snobbery hereby, but a very special and warm atmosphere all around : mostly early in the morning, when the ‘River Lounge’ welcomes the guests for a delicious, generous... and complimentary continental breakfast. One can also have lunch and dinner, for a very cheap price indeed : we particularly enjoyed their tasty Tom Ka Kai (chicken and coconut milk soup) –one of the best we ever had- and their steak served with a pepper sauce and plenty of crispy French fries . There is no supplement for room service ! After such a feast, it is recommended to exercise and relax in the private sports club and spa, to play tennis, or simply use the pool and enjoy some sun. Managed by French group ACCOR, the RIVERFRONT RESIDENCE mixes the efficiency of the European care with the proficiency of the Asian art of hospitality and natural fair play. few kilometers away from downtown, its legendary traffic jams and pollution,
the RIVERFRONT RESIDENCE spreads on the 32 floors of a brand new riverside
condominium. Most of the 184 studios and apartments offer a breathtaking
view on the sinuous waterway stretching down to the Gulf of Siam : which
hotel in Bangkok can match such a panorama ? For such a good value, moreover
? : it will cost you approximately THB1,500 per night for a ‘studio superior’
(38 sq meters), while –even more interesting- a 50 sq meters ‘One Bedroom
Deluxe’ costs THB400 (USD11) more only. During our inspection, we stayed
in a ‘Two Bedrooms Deluxe’ (88 sq meters, for THB2,800=USD80) : full equipped
with Scandinavian furniture, kitchen (including microwave oven, and even
dishes), stereo with CD player, wide screen satellite TV, our room had
two bathrooms made out of black marble and Italian sand stones. To fit
the long stays , there is a huge wardrobe : that kind one used to find
in the old fashioned palace hotels, able to accommodate cabin trunks.
